Mike Nestler has over 30 years of marketing research and consulting experience with many of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and consumer products companies. Early in his career, Mike held positions with Procter & Gamble Canada, S. C. Johnson Wax Canada, Unilever, and Pepsico in Canada. Mike then spent 15 years with several leading market research firms designing and managing market research and providing strategic counsel to pharmaceutical and consumer products clients. More recently, Mike served as a Global Research Director for Mead Johnson Nutritionals. While Mike currently works in partnership with a major global pharmaceutical market research firm on pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device projects, he also provides advanced market research solutions to consumer products and other industries.
In the consumer area, Mike designed large-scale strategic positioning and segmentation studies, including developing and recommending a complete consumer insight-based brand portfolio strategy for a $10B+ packaged foods business. Mike has worked in dozens of consumer product and service categories, including snack foods, home cleaning, personal care, beer, casual dining, OTC, frozen foods, infant nutrition, soft drinks, retail home goods, automobiles, pet foods, and much more.
In pharmaceuticals, Mike has provided research and consulting solutions for 9 of the top 15 pharmaceutical manufacturers. He has worked in at least 2 dozen therapeutic areas, including diabetes, oncology, cardiovascular, vaccines, pain therapy, neurosciences, ophthalmology, and dyslipidemia.
Mike has a particular interest in research in the areas of marketing strategy, market structure, segmentation, and brand equity. Additionally, he has extensive experience in advertising development and evaluation, concept testing, volumetric forecasting, habits, and practices studies, and product testing.
Mike has a B.A. in Experimental Psychology from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario and an MBA from York University in Toronto. In Canada, Mike held leadership positions in the Professional Marketing Research Society (now the MRIA), Canada’s leading marketing research professional association and is a Past President of the Society.
